Ayça Güçlüten is an Istanbul-born novelist, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, and editor. In contemporary Turkish literature, she is recognized for her “narratives of the other” and her unconventional psychological and sociological insights.
She has published four novels and a book of essays, contributed short stories to two anthologies, and written extensively in independent magazines, particularly on issues concerning women. Güçlüten’s writing focuses not only on women’s struggles in her own cultural geography but also on broader themes of class and sexual marginalization.
Her breakthrough came with her novel Disco Ball (2018), which significantly expanded her readership. The novel was later adapted for the stage by the author herself and ran successfully between 2023 and 2025, winning multiple prestigious awards and securing notable nominations.
